refried beans recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups cooked pinto or black beans    OR: Two 15 oz cans cooked beans, drained & rinsed well
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 2 minced fresh garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp. gr. cumin
  • 2 tsp gr. coriander
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
  • Optional: 1 Tbsp Braggs liquid aminos, or soy sauce
  • Optional: 1/4 cup salsa

 

Directions:

  1. Heat the oil on med-low. Add minced fresh garlic, onion & spices
  2. Sauté for 5 minutes or until tender.  Add water if needed. 
  3. Add the mix to the beans.
  4. Mash the beans with a potato masher, in a food mill, or food processor. Add enough liquid to make a smooth paste
