We had a truck load of sand delivered to complete the cisterns and some other upcoming cement/mortar projects.We used a 1:3 sand/cement ratio for the cisterns.
Tying the chicken wire - a very tedious and time consuming process. We found that it is better to tie the chicken wire tight together; the mortar holds better.
